After the birth of their third child, Amanda and Carl McGrane stopped by the Woodbury Fire Station on Thames Road to take some photos with Carl’s fire gear. “I snapped this shot of Carl and our 2-year-old son, Cole, as they were sharing a moment,” Amanda says.

“I joke that I came to an auction to buy a lamp, and came home with a house,” says the co-owner of the historic Charles Spangenberg Farmstead on the southern edge of Woodbury, one of Washington County’s few remaining 19th-century farmsteads.

 

Explaining the roller derby as “a bunch of girls on roller skates” doesn’t accurately paint the picture of the fast, elbow-throwing, ruthless women who make up the Minnesota RollerGirls.

 

November brings the high school musical season to Woodbury; here’s what you’ll see on local stages this fall.

East Ridge High School – Fiddler on the Roof

 

Sometimes you feel like a nut, and sometimes you drive around the country in a car shaped like a nut. At least that’s the case if you’re part of the Planters Peanutter team.

 

Jim Kachel always knew he wanted to work with his hands. What he didn’t know was that someday he would own his own business. “At a young age I watched my father finish our basement and thought it was cool,” Kachel says.

 

Whoever coined the phrase “the more the merrier” probably didn’t have party hosts in mind. While we love to catch up with our 15 cousins and 17 grandkids, hosting the whole crew can sometimes feel more like a headache than a holiday.

 

Maiden Minnesota is in its ninth year of celebrating Minnesota-based, women-owned companies.

 

Woodbury Lakes is hosting a Black Friday Event with many perks for the earliest shoppers. On November 27, the first 200 shoppers in line at 7 a.m. will receive a free breakfast from Crave, a free store gift card and other holiday shopping giveaways.

M2B Crew is made up of trio Skylar Wolfe, Addison Wolfe and Allison Quintana. M2B means “meant to be.” The trio has so much in common and all look so similar that they feel it was meant to be that they met and joined as a crew.

 

Shelley Benda has been running Walk A By Buddy, a local dog-walking and pet-sitting business, for three years. It has proven to be the perfect setup for Benda, her customers and the dogs.

 

Ronnally’s Pizza is the oldest family restaurant in Woodbury and a favorite of many locals. So when it suddenly closed in February, customers were missing their favorite pizza joint.
